ITCHEN PARTNER WITH STUDENT ATHLETE NETWORK
Itchen College Basketball Academy are proud to announce a formal partnership with Student Athlete Network, a relationship that will see the academy work with SAN to assist in the recruitment process and the placement of student athletes across our programme.
SAN is a newly formed recruitment service that helps in providing opportunities for players to study and play basketball in both the United States and the UK. Having placed a number of high level British players across the previous 4 years, both Josh Merrington and Lloyd Gardner (the founders of SAN) are offering their services to young student athletes in the country.
Josh and Lloyd are both extremely well versed in the British game, both having lead on EABL programmes for a number of years. They both also boast national team caps, featuring on the coaching staff of the GB U20’s and Men’s squads.
Josh @ Student Athlete Network commented on the partnership; ”We are really excited to begin a partnership with Itchen College Basketball Academy and look forward to working with the staff and players to help facilitate exit routes and opportunities for their student athletes."
“This is a really exciting opportunity for our student athletes, as through this partnership we will be able to help facilitate a number of different exit routes. Both Josh and Lloyd have a fantastic network as well as years of experience in placing players in the states and guiding them through the recruitment process. Added Itchen College Head Coach Matt Guymon.

HOOPSFIX ALL-STAR CLASSIC 2020 ROSTERS ANNOUNCED
Hoopsfix has revealed their rosters for this years Hoopsfix All-Star Classic, with the pandemic putting a stop to this summers standout event, players have been recognised however on their respective rosters and it gives the UK Basketball community an idea of what they missed out on!
The annual event - supported by Nike and 5or6 - would have brought together the top male and female junior players of their generation to play in three All-Star games across two days.
The second-ever Under-19 women’s game was one of three games that were due to take place, as well as a Class of 2020 men’s game for male graduating Seniors, and the Underclassmen game - featuring players who have at least one more year left before graduating (Class of 2021 or younger).
The five previous events have all sold out in advance and another capacity crowd was anticipated in Brixton for the 2020 edition, which was originally scheduled for June before its cancellation.
“Though we are absolutely gutted to have had to cancel the event this year, we felt announcing the selected players is a small gesture to show recognition of those who would have been suiting up,” said Sam Neter, owner of Hoopsfix.
“Despite the event not happening, we will class those selected this year as alumni as with every other year, and they will be listed on the new website - launching soon - with player profiles.
“Congratulations to all those selected, and massive respect to all the clubs, coaches and people who contributed to their development. We look forward to following their progress and development in the coming years.”
With countless national titles and a wealth of junior international experience between them, the rosters represent a glimpse into the future of British basketball and include both domestic and foreign-based players.
Itchen sees two members of the Kestrels Family included across both the male games, with Jeremy Sochan (who spent last season at La Lumiere, IN) named for a second straight appearance in the Underclassmen game and All-EABL 2nd Teamer Taiga Forster selected for the Class of 2020 game.
