Itchen Basketball Academy

Itchen Sixth Form College was approved as a DiSE Academy in May 2013. There are only 14 approved DiSE centres in the whole of the U.K.

"Being approved as a DiSE Institution is a fantastic achievement for Itchen Sixth Form College and Team Solent Kestrels Basketball Club. This accreditation allows us to develop young athletes by having them in a competitive environment with all the resources and coaching they need to make it to an elite level."

Matt Guymon - Director of Basketball, Itchen Sixth Form College

ITCHEN COLLEGE DiSE ACADEMY

WHAT IS DiSE?

The Diploma in Sporting Excellence (DiSE), formerly known as the Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence (AASE), is a two-year programme that provides a unique sporting qualification designed to meet the needs of young athletes who have the realistic potential to achieve excellence in their sport and are seeking to perform at the highest level.

The programme, which sits alongside Team Solent Kestrel's U18 team, aim to develop the athlete's understanding of the skills and abilities required to become a performance athlete, such as nutirition, key psychological skills and physiology, etc. During the programme, our elite athletes progress through a series of face to face and online workshops, progress review meetings, observations of training and competition. At the end of the programme, students graduate with a level 3 Diploma in Sporting Excellence, which carries UCAS points.
