HEAD COACH BEN STANLEY DEPARTS CLUB

It is with regret that we announce the departure from the club of D1 Men’s & Women’s Head Coach, Ben Stanley, as he pursues a new coaching opportunity elsewhere. Ben has had a huge impact in just one season back at the club, helping to secure a league and playoff title for the D1 Women’s side as well as a playoff appearance with the D1 Men.

Stanley, rejoined the club at the beginning of the 2022/23 season taking on both the Men’s and Women’s Head Coach roles for BUCS and National League. This would be Ben’s second stint with the programme after coaching at various junior national league levels for the club previously.

Ben would also be named the WNBL Division 1 Coach of the Year for the 2022/23 season after leading the Women’s squad to a 19-3 record at the summit of the league. The club have worked with Ben over the summer with preparations for the new season however this opportunity for him was an opportunity he could not turn down and whilst the club is sad to see him go, he goes with our best wishes for his future basketball career.

Club Chairman Matt Bishop added his thanks to Coach Stanley. “It’s been an absolute pleasure having Ben back in the club this past year and his efforts and commitment to the whole club has been exceptional. He is one of Basketball’s great coaches and great guys and I know he’ll have a bright future and this opportunity for him was too good to turn down. We all wish Ben and Vanessa well with their new venture."

We would like to put on record our appreciation and gratitude for all Ben’s work and wish him every success for his future coaching endeavours.
