Team Solent Kestrels were back in dominant mood on Sunday afternoon as they took a 111-43 road win over Oaklands Wolves. Kestrels recorded a 112-49 victory when the sides met back in November and it would be the same outcome for TSK in the return matchup, leading from start to finish, moving to 18-0 in NBL Division 2 South.

Ilias Taiwo went a perfect 9-9 from the field on his way to 21 points, 4 steals and 3 assists, whilst Will Taylor added 19 points and 11 rebounds off the bench and Isa Brandon chipped in 15 points and 11 boards on his return to the line up for TSK.

Kestrels found themselves up 7-0 in a hurry after some nice work from Ash Briggs and Russ Gariepy and despite 4 points in reply from the hosts, it was the league leaders who continued on the ascendancy, building a 14-4 lead inside 4 minutes. Ilias Taiwo and Will Taylor came off the bench to inject instant impact and in a flash Kestrels were up 22-8, Oaklands did rally however to close the quarter but Kestrels took a 29-17 advantage after one.

The second quarter was all TSK as they amassed a 33 point scoring haul whilst holding the Wolves to just 7 points, a stretch that effectively ended this one as a contest. Kestrels would hold Oaklands scoreless for a 4 minutes stretch, whilst piling on the scoring with an 18 point streak of their own. With TSK now up 51-21 there was still time to increase the gap before the break through Elliot Dadds and Matt Hughes, half time score 62-24 to the south coasters.

It was a slower paced 3rd quarter for TSK after a frenetic second period, however the scoring did not dry up and 4 of the 5 Kestrels starters ticked the scoreboard over early on to extend the arrears to 45. Taiwo and Taylor came into the game once again and provided a 1-2 scoring punch as they combined to score TSK’s final 17 points of the third quarter, 88-33 Kestrels heading into the final 10 minutes.

A 13-0 run to open the 4th quarter saw the lead pushed out to 68 at 101-33 before the Kestrels bench got in on the scoring act with both Sean Mulhern and Shaun Mboura connecting from the foul line. An Ilias Taiwo dunk punctuated a stellar performance from TSK as they ran out 111-43 winners to continue their undefeated league status.

Kestrels return to the SSC this Saturday (6pm) for their penultimate home game of the regular season, where London Stars will be the visitors, you can get your tickets for that game on the link below now.
