KESTRELS WELCOME BACK BIG MAN WAYNE KITENGE

Wayne Kitenge will return to the Solent Kestrels for his second consecutive season as the squad gear up for the 2025/26 NBL Division 1 campaign. Kitenge made has his return to National League basketball last season after a short stint away from the level and made a significant impact on Coach Guymon’s double winning squad.

The 6’8 powerhouse was an integral part of last season’s league and playoff winning Kestrels side, as he shared the front court role with fellow big man Ash Briggs. Wayne’s rebounding ability and dominant presence inside ranked amongst the best forwards in the league, showing with a number of impressive double-double performances off the bench.

Wayne posted averages of 7.6 ppg, 5.4 rpg and 1.2 apg whilst averaging 63% from the field, across the 2024/25 season.

Kitenge added, “I am really excited to run it back in the Solent Sports Complex this season — in front of the best fans and best energy in the league. We have big things planned this season and we are looking forward to building on last years success.”
