TSK APPOINT LUKE BUSUMBRU AS COMMUNITY IMPLEMENTATION MANAGER

The Solent Kestrels are delighted to announce the appointment of Luke Busumbru as the club’s new Community Implementation Manager, marking a significant step forward in the expansion and development of their grassroots and outreach efforts.

In his new role, Luke will be responsible for leading and growing key areas of the club’s community engagement. This includes overseeing the Kestrels City League, school partnerships, camps, SABA Youth League, and skills sessions-programs designed to nurture young talent and build deeper connections between the club and the wider community.

Busumbru brings a wealth of experience and passion to the role. As a player, he boasts a storied career that includes being named to the British Team of the Year with Essex Rebels, competing in the BBL with Surrey Scorchers, and enjoying a trophy-laden spell with the Solent Kestrels from 2019 to 2022, where he helped the club to multiple championships.

His return to Solent marks a homecoming both on and off the court, and the club is thrilled to have one of its most respected alumni take on such a pivotal role in shaping the next generation.

Matt Guymon, Director of Coaching at the Kestrels, shared his excitement about the appointment:

As well as being one of the best British players, he is a fantastic coach, and I have no doubt that he is going to elevate our community program and schools partnerships which is essential for the growing demand for the sport in the city”

Luke’s combination of elite playing experience, coaching acumen, and deep understanding of the club’s culture makes him ideally placed to spearhead the Kestrels’ continued commitment to excellence both on the court and within the community.

The Kestrels look forward to an exciting new chapter under Luke’s leadership and are confident his impact will be felt across all levels of the program. Luke has begun his role this week and will be joining our coaching staff for our full summer camp programme.
