Kestrels continue their fine form of late on Saturday evening at the Solent Sports Complex, as they defeated Richmond Knights 96-55 in NBL Division 1. The victory pushes Kestrels into the mix at the top of the division having played less games than the rest of the league.

Kestrels young duo of Jakub Ofman and Tom Blower came off the bench to put up 15 points each, Jakub also added 9 rebounds whilst Tom impressively did his scoring in just under 9 minutes.

It was the hosts who struck first getting up 6 behind quick scores from Ash Briggs and Luke Busumbru, forcing an early Knights timeout. Richmond would respond out of the timeout and they eventually pulled themselves to within 3 points at 12-9, in a relatively low scoring quarter to that point. However a 9-3 run to close the period through Andre Arissol and Jakub Ofman, saw Kestrels hold a 21-12 advantage after one.

The teams traded scores to open the second quarter as they lead stayed out at 9 for the Kestrels over the first two minutes. A 9-0 run kick started by a Ben Cope lay up and capped off with an Elijah Lotriet lay up, gave the home team their first meaningful lead of the game at 35-17. Whilst there was a brief reply from the Knights, it was the Kestrels young line up of Ofman and Tom Blower who continued to build the lead, 45-24 Kestrels at the break.

Arissol and Briggs did the scoring early on once again in the second half, as they combined for 7 quick points, however Richmond responded with scores of their own. Knights would go on to cut the arrears to 19 points but that would spark a 10-0 run to close the quarter the Kestrels, through Ethan Round and Wayne Kitenge to push the gap back to 29, 69-40.

Kestrels poured in their highest scoring quarter of the game in the final ten minutes, with 27 points as Tom Blower showed no signs of let up from beyond the arc. Dawid Cimochowksi scored 5 straight followed by Ofman and Cope scores, with the game being finished off with a flurry of Tom Blower scores to take him to 15 points for the game and secure the Solent victory, 96-55.

Solent will now head on the road to London Stars this coming weekend (15th) as they look to keep their hot form of late rolling. All before returning home for 3 back to back home games, tickets for those games are on sale here now; https://www.solentkestrels.co.uk/tickets
